“You’ve been waiting for me, haven’t you?” says Mike.
Even though he knows they’re just pretending, Will feels a dull pang in his chest at the truth of those words. He nods and whimpers in affirmation; vulnerable, a little sad.
“Good.” Mike kisses him on the forehead. “I’ve been waiting for you too, you know.”
Will has a hang-up. Mike indulges him.
