Summary
When Vex agreed to bring Saundor as her +1 to her brother's wedding, it had been a dream scenario. They were young, in love, and both breaking their backs for their careers, so a vacation to the Bay of Gifts was a perfect break for them to re-commit themselves to each other while celebrating Vax and Gilmore's nuptials.
There's just one problem.
They broke up, and now Vax is asking her to pay for that gap in the vacation, money that she cannot afford, so she has to think fast. Maybe her brain is working too fast when she tells Vax, then, that she actually does have a partner. A girlfriend who would love to come along for the trip in Saundor's stead! What luck, now she doesn't have to pay, someone else can enjoy the trip, and Vex doesn't look pathetic.
