Jack glances towards his 2IC, still on the ground, eyes closed, nails digging into the soil beneath her. "Carter?" he prompts. She looks up, and for the first time, he could see how sallow her features looked under the dirt and grime. "You okay?"
She blinks, then after a second, nods. "I'm fine, sir," she responds.
And Jack chooses to believe her.
(In which Sam is just good enough at hiding injuries to make things exponentially worse for herself).
