Niko had been laying in Aj’s bed for a few hours, they had just been talking and watching some TV show. They were only mildly interested in it, a random show Kenny had recommended for them. Aj was leaning into Niko’s side, lifting his head every once in a while to kiss Niko wherever he could reach. He didn’t remember when it happened, but his boyfriend had slid down the pillows, reaching Aj’s level to kiss him more easily.

Everyone accepted Aj’s boundaries. He had made it clear since the day they all met him that he doesn’t like physical touch. It was only appreciated when he himself initiated it. It’s just who he is. Still, they always looked forward to his softer moments. The times where he went in for a real hug, not like the quick side hugs he gives when they see each other for the first time in a while. The times where he sat close enough on the couch to touch. The times where he allowed himself to be picked up, or when he would hop onto their backs.

Aj and Niko stood up from their seats, moving to stand directly next to each other. Aj’s head was in line with Niko’s shoulders. He stood on his toes, trying to seem taller. It hardly worked. Kenny laughed, teasing Aj and calling him short. He looked away, however, at the sound of Sharky’s voices coming through the feedback screen next to the chairs.
