Summary
Hunter hovers around his emotions as if he doesn’t know what to do with them. If you ask him if he’s doing ok, he jumps to tell you how fine he is with desperate urgency, as if it’s illegal to be caught with his guard down, almost like he’s hiding something. He goes around acting like he is completely unbothered, all while his hands shake at his sides and eyebags continue to darken.
Willow can't watch him suffer.

Summary
Camila knew a mindset like Hunter’s couldn’t be rewritten overnight, but she was endlessly grateful that he had at least begun to seem less anxious in her presence. It was going to be a process. Maybe, with enough time and gentle encouragement, she would finally get to meet the real Hunter.
And by God she was going to find something to make this kid feel more comfortable in her home.

Summary
Hunter had calmly awaited Ms. Noceda’s instruction. It made sense that she hadn’t made any demands the first few days, it was clear that they were all in shock and needed time to process before any of them could be trusted to successfully carry out any task, no matter how simple. But this was day five, and though none of them were doing particularly well, they were coming back around. The thousand-yard stares and silence that had cloaked them those first awful nights had fallen away into something less shell-shocked. And yet, Ms. Noceda had not told any of them what they were supposed to be doing.
Because they had to have been expected to be doing something. Hunter was not naive. Ms. Noceda’s assurance that they were all welcome in her home was a kind gesture, but kindness was not given without being earned.
Or
Hunter thinks he has to work to earn Camila's kindness. Too bad he can't figure out what she wants.Series

Summary
“Dios mío, what's this?!”
He looked down at his wrist, where his coven sigil sat, inflamed and sluggishly bleeding from its activation during the draining spell. That looked worse than he expected. It looked like an infected brand. In a way, it kind of was.
“It’s, uhh,” Hunter fumbled, mind scrambling for some way to possibly explain the mark to somebody who had no information on what magic even really was, “It's, um. It’s not normally like that.”
Or
Hunter’s first night in the Noceda residence. He learns that most adults do, indeed, experience empathy. Turns out Belos is maybe not the best reference for good parenting.
