Summary
It takes him a moment to calculate the time difference, then frown, because Iwaizumi should be taking a final right now. He taps the green button to answer.
“Iwa-chan?” he asks, voice hedged with reluctant concern. “Are you okay?”
“No,” Iwaizumi grunts. “How many fucking stories up is your apartment?”
Or, Iwaizumi Hajime (19) visits Oikawa in Argentina.

Summary
Watching Iwaizumi like this, Tooru feels like a spectator of his life, not like he’s actually here, trying to be a part of it. It’s bizarre. They never used to need to fill every silence when they revolved around each other like planets in orbit - unequivocal, absolute. This insecurity is like a sudden knife to Tooru’s gut carving out the reality of the matter, which is, ultimately, that he doesn’t know how to be around Iwa-chan anymore.
It feels like they’re a rubber band being stretched back back back, pulled taught with a tension that will only resolve itself when it snaps. Tooru doesn’t know what it means for them if they let it snap.
Oikawa visits Irvine, California.

the awkward, out-of-body experience of reuniting with your best friend after time apart, and desperately clinging on to what you have. trying not to drift apart. fumbling over how to interact with this new distance in between. trying to figure out where home is—whether it's the place you left behind, or the place you're trying to carve for yourself now, or whether it's a person. a quiet fic, but meaningful, and full of impact.

absolutely charming. the unraveling of oikawa tooru, as seen from the eyes of sakusa, the rare team japan athlete who HASN'T met the infamous setter before—genius! his dry wit, observations, humor (?), and one-liners were a joy to read. and national team was absolutely perfect; the banter, the wholesome character interactions, the chaotic haikyuu energy, the web of childhood ties. really, EVERYONE deserves to know oikawa.
"I suppose you could say he makes his own luck.”

Summary
“Would it kill you to say one nice thing about me? Just one?”
“Yeah.” Iwaizumi smiles, crookedly. “I’d instantly combust.”
Oikawa is an angel who’s bad at being good. Iwaizumi is a demon who’s bad at being bad. Chance keeps pitting them against each other.

creative, magical, larger than life. the world building was fantastic. iwaizumi was a perfectly perfect demon, just how i'd imagine him to be in such a role. and oikawa—with his manic research, his face masks, his snarky one-liners, and a touch of loneliness underneath—was just the je ne sais quoi this fic needed.
