Nagi gagged, lips slicked with spit as he hacked violently, falling back onto his knees as he shook. He closed his eyes, tears spilling down his cheeks in a mixture of pain and embarrassment at the thought he just spit onto the relatively clean floor. Though now, his throat was unusually clear, the taste of bile not accompanying such vitriolic wheezing. He took a deep breath, eyes still squeezed shut, and found that whatever was stuck there had vanished.
He cracked open a single eyelid.
