Summary
The smell of putrid air inside the depth of that well still haunted Zanka. On the day he decided to crawl out of that hole, he got broken in half, just like this stick he picked up. Looking at the food he had a hard time digesting, Zanka wondered when his sister would wake up.
This was all his fault after all.

Instead of Enjin, Kyouka is the one who found Zanka inside the well. It changes everything.

Summary
Slowly, Kyouka stops noticing Zanka's efforts. It's easier to see the lack of it, when Zanka does not come to dinner with bruises and scrapes showing.
