Ekko looks at her. Really looks at her.
Caitlyn doesn’t have anything to say about that, is tugging her hood back up when the door bursts open.
“Since when did you have the door closed, Little Man—”
Her hands almost freeze on the hood but she thinks she makes it in time when the last, last, last person she thought she’d ever see again comes barreling through the unlocked door.
What if Vi left with Jinx? What if she comes back?

Vi dreamt of being stabbed. Pain flared in her side, spreading, clawing, biting. In her dream, she was fighting a torrent of soldiers. A blade found her stomach before a shot rang out. Her skin tore as she held Jinx back from rushing to her own death.
When she jolted awake, the dream faded, but the pain stayed. It was no longer a deep cut, but a painful muscle ache. Directly below her stomach.

Summary
Vi twists one of her hands around again, eyes flicking down to take a look at Caitlyn’s work, now that Caitlyn is distracted from it. There’s still clear evidence of her earlier breakdown, of her losing it against the walls of her cell because it was the only thing around that she could take out her anger on. Her fear. Her guilt.
But the hand is clean now, and some of the cracks along her knuckles that had started to bleed are already closing up, leaving the mere trace of what could have been a scar but is now just healing skin.
