Slowly the image of the village got swallowed up by a yellow mist. The last thing they saw was Jiang Cheng as the soldiers reached him. Jiang Cheng smiled at them.

"We will only let Yunmeng Jiang help us if the head disciple is approved by A-Lian." The chief of the village said. His determined demeanor didn't shift as he made direct eye contact with all the disciples. The poor disciples of Yunmeng Jiang could only stare in shock at the old man.
"Do you know who you are talki-" Jiang Ping, one of the disciples started but his sentence was cut off before he could finish as Wei Wuxian stepped forward.
"And who might this A-Lian be, Zhang-xiānshēng?" he asked with a polite smile. The chief's cold shell cracked for the first time since their arrival a day ago as a small smile appeared on his face.
"He is our protector."
