“You’re young, are you not?” The opposer tilts his head, with a hand on his hip.
“And how would you know that?” Says she, through tremulous and taut tone. With fists clenched, it was well apparent he got under her skin.
“Just a hunch. You know, one can only save so many lives before it extracts the life out of them.” He lifts his palms to collect the rain, unmoving.
“Why would I take your stupid riddle seriously? You’re a loser terrorising this city,” She speaks, raising an arm to aim a shot. He chuckles to himself, like she’s missing a joke. In a blue flash, he appears in front of her. Her limbs felt far too heavy to move.
His free hand brushes against her left cheek.
“And yet you still remember my name.”

Her eyes remained locked to the corner of the room. She opened her mouth, only to find her lips practically dry.
His voice lowered an octave. “Eyes up front.”

A pair of hands wrapped around her waist and pulled her forward. Miae rubbed her eyes, looking up at the boy. He rested his hands on her shoulders, shaking his head.
“You need to be more careful, Miae,” he scolded, as if he wasn’t the one who attacked her.
“Okay, fine! You win, Moon Boy.” She crossed her arms but smiled. The moon reflected against the river’s surface, just in front of two small figures. One looking down, the other staring up.
The night was peaceful, but it was alive.
Miae’s smile faltered.

Miae extended her hands out to him, holding a small cup with a white lily floating inside. “It’s prettier than the daisy, right? I can’t believe I just had to keep it in water! Your sister is really smart,” she exclaimed. Cheol stiffened.
She tightened her lips into a thin line, not necessarily scowling at him. “Don’t think of it as a gift! How about… a favour? You can give me something in return one day so it doesn’t feel like a gift, okay?”

“Your face is red. Are you really overheating in that t-shirt?” She pointed out. Cheol touched his face and felt an unusual warmth. Weird. “Maybe you had an embarrassing dream. What was it?”
“My dream? I… don’t remember.” Cheol pursed his lips and tried to recall, but could only make out the countryside and nothing more. It was probably the warmth of the sun from the dream seeping into his mind and increasing blood flow to his face. She didn’t pry any further, because her attention was driven into her magazine.
