I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know how to look at him. I didn’t even know how to feel about him anymore—anger, hurt, longing, disappointment, confusion, all knotted up so tightly I couldn’t untangle a single strand.

When I had said that I was done with the conversation, I meant it.
I lowered the knife, my cheeks hot. “Oh Bellamy, this is obviously my way of flirting with you,” I mused, hoping it would distract from the embarrassment that was creeping up my neck.
