    Summary

When Aslan says they may stay it is like the horrible tightness in his chest that has plagued him since they first left Narnia, that has wrapped around his ribs and made every breath a little too hard, finally loosens. It feels like the first time Peter has breathed in far too long. He sinks to his knees on the dais and weeps, his trembling wings pressed up against his spine as the great lion lovingly nuzzles his cheek, Aslan's deep rumbling purr filling his chest as his relief runs down his cheeks, wetting both feathers and soft golden fur.

After he finds that it is not as simple as it had felt in that moment to let go of the fear of returning to England, flightless and bound to the earth. Aslan’s words will not be broken but there is still a human doubt that plagues him, king or not, and his wings still ache.

    Summary

The look on her face, one of devastation and sorrow, is not one he has seen for fifteen years. Susan and Edmund look to her to, Susan walking up to Lucy gently.
“What is it, Lu?” Peter hears himself ask, voice strangely hoarse.
“My cordial,” she whispers, dropping down to a crouch, eyes staring at nothing.

(or when the Pevensie's return to Narnia, it is not just Susan's horn that is missing)
