It was all Hawks' fault.
At least, that’s what Katsuki was telling himself. After all, things were perfectly fine when he sat in the guy’s office that morning. Yes, the newspaper was downsizing, but Katsuki was a damn good journalist. All he had to do was get through the meeting with his job—and hopefully a new secret undercover assignment—intact.
But when he’s given two very different assignments, instead—an international movie premiere and a shitty advice column—he finds that his life is suddenly filled with more secrets than he knows how to handle. Though which secret identity will be harder to keep is still up in the air—anonymous advice columnist? Or platonic best friend?

Neither Bakugou nor Kirishima presented in high school.
It wasn’t unheard of. Asui, Koda and Sato hadn’t either. Betas—or the unpresented—were the least common of the secondary genders, but they still made up about a quarter of the population.
But starting to present and then stopping altogether? Not so common.
Just before moving into the dorms, he’d started showing all the signs. Aching gums. Hot and cold flashes. Random bouts of aggression.
But then he saw Bakugou on move-in day.
For a split second, it felt like he was breaking. Like something was going to snap. And then…

“Fine,” he said firmly, like he was negotiating terms for a hostage situation. “Whatever you want. A date. Let’s do it. Just stop laughing and kiss me already.”
But Kirishima shook his head, looking way too pleased with himself. “Nope. You gotta take me on a proper date first. Those are the rules.”
Rules? What rules? Bakugo’s brain scrambled for ideas, anything that would get him what he wanted. “I’ll take you anywhere. To the damn moon if I have to. We’ll have a date in space. A galaxy date.”
Kirishima chuckled again, his laughter shaking them both as he hugged Bakugo closer. “That’s a big promise, Katsuki.”
“I’m serious,” Bakugo said, pulling back enough to stare at him. “I’ll pour Italian wine in your mouth, I’ll feed you grapes like you’re a Greek god, I don’t care. Just name it. Anything. We’re doing it.”
The grin on Kirishima’s face softened, the teasing melting into something warm and almost bashful. “You’d do all that just for a kiss, huh?”
Bakugo didn’t hesitate, didn’t even blink. “For your kisses? Yeah.”

At thirty five, it's not quite the future that's happened.Bakugou has it pretty good: still a pro hero - though not ranked, a respected heroics teacher, and most days almost a decent person. He has a good job, good friends, and by all measures a pretty nice life, even though it's not what he wanted back in the day, what he thought he'd be living.
And at the same time, he keeps wondering:Is this...it?
It's not until a long-lost friend comes back into his life that Bakugou starts to wonder if he could maybe do better than just existing.

“Y-you wanna kiss me?” Kirishima asked breathlessly, eyes wide and shocked as he held up both hands, palms facing out until Katsuki was between them. “Oh man…” he swallowed thickly, gaze dipping to his lips.
“I’m not being bad at something, so stand there and let me kiss your stupid face.” Katsuki growled, and realisation flashed across Kirishima’s features.
“Oh. Ohhh. Okay, y-yeah, I think I get it. You wanna…practice?” It seemed to take some effort for him to pull his eyes away from Katsuki’s mouth, but an almost nervous smile curled his own a moment later. “You want me to teach you how, right?” He ventured, and Katsuki immediately bristled.
“Don’t get cocky. I know how to kiss.” He lied, unwilling to back down despite the back of his skull screaming at him that he was digging himself a hole deeper than he was sure he could get out of. “You use tongue.” He stated as though it was obvious.
