Summary
While most of the reactions were as she expected — shock and well-wishes from fans and friends in and out of the industry, shock and scrutiny from those who knew she wasn’t married (family, some fans, and even some now ex-friends), it wasn’t much of a media circus until the speculations on who the father might be started. It didn’t help that there were two men everyone knew were the top candidates, nor did it help that Mira had mastered the art of giving non-answers when she was asked about it.
And it certainly didn’t help that both the men in question were fiercely defensive whenever an interviewer was prying too much. Or that they’ve all been spotted on several occasions looking like one happy, unconventional family of two dads, one mom, and a little girl who actually did look like all three of them beyond the hair color.
But that was just it: They were a family. Mira wasn’t interested in trying to explain it to anyone who couldn’t accept that it just looked different. Her little girl was loved thrice as much and so was she.

Summary
There was the sound of the door shutting. A few footsteps.
“She’s not here?” the voice asked.
Zoey dropped her voice lower, almost conspiratorial. “No. She went out—probably won’t be back for, like… fifteen, twenty minutes.”
A beat of silence. Then a quiet chuckle. “Good. Then I can steal you for a while.”
There was a nervous little hiccup of laughter from Zoey. “Wait—don’t get too close, I’m still live—”
“I’ll stay out of frame,” the voice promised, tone coaxing.
The sound of a hand brushing fabric, then a soft shuffle—the mic catching the rustle as Zoey was pulled slightly sideways. A faint smack of lips meeting. Quick. Too quick to be mistaken.
Chat slowed to a crawl.
