Summary
A man dies in one world and wakes as Rhaegar Targaryen, heir to the Iron Throne.
It could be worse. He could have woken as Aerys.
Unfortunately, he has inherited a prophecy-obsessed silver prince with a fondness for melancholy harp solos and tragic decisions. He remembers enough to know how this story ends, and he has no intention of dying handsomely on a riverbank for it.
With a volatile father on the throne, ambitious lords circling, and winter gathering beyond the Wall, he chooses preparation over destiny.
He will train. He will scheme. He will flatter where necessary and listen more than the original prince ever did. Certain historical catastrophes will be avoided.
And if dragons must return to the world, it seems he will have to stop brooding about them and hatch one himself.
