Aventurine was a beta. His scent was dim, like most betas, present but nearly nonexistent. It was rare for him to have mood swings, which commonly presented themselves before an alpha’s rut and before an omega’s heat.
“Perfect for a gambler,” Jade had complimented as she was filling in official documents for him. He hadn’t bothered to correct her for that detail, thinking it unnecessary, but the truth was—he wasn’t a beta.
Nor an alpha. Nor an omega.
Or, Aventurine can't help but yearn for Ratio's touch when his late presentation comes.

Summary
Aventurine is never quiet—until the morning he doesn’t show up to work, doesn’t answer his messages, and leaves his apartment door half-open.
Ratio tells himself it isn’t a crisis.
It’s just irritation.
Statistically.But irritation doesn’t explain why he finds Aventurine feverish on the kitchen floor, too weak to stand, insisting he doesn’t want to “trouble” anyone.
It definitely doesn’t explain why Ratio ends up in Aventurine’s bed, holding him through the worst night of his life.

Tim averts his eyes, fiddles with the sleeves of his hoodie. “Have you ever…noticed anything strange about me?”
The silence extends for far too long. Tim chances a glance back up, only to find Duke struggling to keep his face in check.
“Dude! I’m being serious here!”
Duke bursts into laughter. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Just—I mean—you’re a strange guy!”
“I know that! But I meant it like,” Tim gestures wildly around him, “in the energy, light sense. Is there anything unusual surrounding me?”
The question causes Duke’s laughter to die down. “Yeah, dude, you got that whole Chaos Cloud thing going on. I thought you knew that.”
Tim stills. “The what.”
