“then why does it feel like we are?” he fires back, stepping into her space again, backing her toward the wall of his cabin. her back hits wood.
his hands come up automatically—one bracing beside her head, the other firmly settling on her hip.
“you don’t get to be jealous,” she says, breath quickening.
“i am,” he says flatly. “deal with it.”
that does it. she grabs his shirt and yanks him down into her.
it’s violent. teeth clashing, breath sharp, hands fisting fabric like she’s trying to tear through him.
he responds instantly, one hand sliding from her waist to her lower back, gripping hard enough to pull her fully against him. the other stays braced by her head, boxing her in.
“you’re so fucking irritating,” she mutters against his mouth.
“yeah?” he fires back, kissing her harder. “you’re the one who started this.”

“no touching annabeth.”
annabeth bites her lip to keep from laughing. “estelle—”
“she’s mine right now,” estelle insists.
percy raises his hands in surrender. “okay, okay. sorry.”
estelle watches him for a moment, suspicious, then turns back to the movie.
annabeth tilts her head slightly toward him. “you okay?”
he leans in, murmuring, “apparently i’m on probation.”
she smiles, soft and warm, and deliberately reaches for his hand under the blanket, lacing their fingers together where estelle cannot see.
percy squeezes once. subtle. contained. it feels like a secret.

On a list of things Annabeth Chase wanted to do, sharing a hotel room with her ex-boyfriend of seven months was at the very bottom. Especially when the entire reason she'd ended things with him had been a complete and total lie, and she was still very much not over him. But for her best friend's destination wedding, she would be doing exactly that.
She just had to get through four nights of close quarters with her extremely hot ex that she was in love with, who couldn't keep his eyes to himself if his life depended on it, all while the voices in her head (and her best friends) whispered to her that they should've never broken up in the first place. How hard could it be?
