    Summary

Dazai Osamu has been in a coma for exactly one year, seven months, and twenty-two days. But Death still refuses to take him.

Trapped in the space between worlds and unable to die, Dazai waits, killing what precious time he may have left and hoping—praying—that his family will pull the plug and move on. He doesn't expect someone to move into his old apartment instead.

Nakahara Chuuya, two-time Grammy awards winner, and freshly unemployed pessimist, has never believed in fate, much less the supernatural. But the lively—if a bit annoying—ghost of his apartment's previous tenant, might just change everything.

    Bookmarker's Notes

I have no words. This was written so beautifully. I swear, this shit changed my view on the world. This had so much emotional whiplash in it, it had me kicking my feet and squealing to staring at my wall and wondering why I even decided to put myself through this in the span of ONE chapter. I love the way this was paced, not too fast or too slow. I love the way the author represented their characters. I love the way their emotions were shaped. I love how the author gave us so much time to learn to love and bond with these characters, only to rip it away in the most soul-crushing way possible.

I was not able to tear my eyes away from this, the plot only left me wanting more and more. More was granted, but in a variety of ways that all made sense in the end. This felt so real, and the supernatural elements elevated this in ways that surprised me.

This was an INSANE read, and it is definitely not getting the attention it deserves. Not to mention, the entire concept of this fic was so damn creative. It was so chock-full of angst, I was lowkey about to cry. And I have never cried over a fic before. The writing was just so full of emotion and description. The plot was so amazingly executed, and their feelings for one another was so portrayed so gorgeously that I honestly didn’t know how to feel. This author knew DAMN WELL what they were doing when they wrote this.

As for the ending. The ending. The ending destroyed me. As they say, it gets worse before it gets better. The ending however, felt bittersweet. It almost felt like a reward when it all came down to it. Truly, the ending was remarkable and almost had me in tears knowing that everything was fine in the end. But this got so much better that I was on the verge of tears. I cannot describe the amount of emotions this fic made me feel. This was so worth it. Honestly, this might be one of my favorite fics I’ve EVER read. Everything about this was so well thought out, and the ending was what hit the hardest. I will 100% reread this. Hands down a mind altering piece of work.

I usually dont do a whole report on fics I read, but this deseves a report and more, because there was so much I want to talk about but didn't put in this bc let's be real who is actually gonna read all this. But if there is one thing I can say for sure, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ THIS. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.<3

    Summary

Best friends is too simple a term to squash the entire dynamic of Dazai Osamu and Nakahara Chuuya within.

Sure, they’ve known each other since they were children, and they’re each other’s #1 on their best friend lists on Snapchat, and Chuuya’s been seen one too many times in his hoodies. People have also noticed how Dazai’s main muse for his volunteer hobby of polaroid photographer is the redhead himself.

But the pranks they pull on each other isn’t much of a ‘best friend’ thing to do.

Especially when one of the pranks get pulled so far,

That Chuuya is forbidden from seeing Dazai ever again.

And though he sees no good coming from such a forced separation, the one thing that can enhance their futures together is propelled forward at a faster speed than either of them could have ever imagined:

Coming to terms with their unusual feelings for each other.

    Bookmarker's Notes

This was absolutely AMAZING. The author captured their emotions perfectly, the story made sense and was fluid, and every single word was a total, utter masterpiece. This made me feel SO many emotions, and realism made ALL the more better.

The realistic handling of sensitive topics, and don’t even get me started on how emotions were portrayed. The author managed to make them so soul-crushingly human and struggle in their own unique ways. And to be totally honest, their personalities were in character. I know some fics make Chuuya some soft crybaby and Dazai some soulless, emotionless monster, or vise versa. This did not do that at any time. The characters were perfectly depicted, and the relationship building was so cute :D

Everything, start to finish, was worth reading. It was so wholesome, yet so sad at the same time. Trust me, it gets worse before it gets better. While reading this, I absolutely could NOT put my phone down. PLEASE, if you want a good Soukoku AU with realistic friendships and issues, PLEASE READ THIS. It definitely did NOT disappoint! <3
