Summary
One of her earliest memories is piecing a skeleton back together bone by bone, matching a chalk outline left in one of the unused storage rooms of the Compass Points Library. The skull there, each vertebrate descending in the proper order, each finger bone and kneecap and toe following the simply worded instructions and detailed pictorial guide etched into the wall. Once the task was finished, she’d hefted the book of pirate spells and set it on the bones, stumbling back from the exhalation of magic in the air.

Summary
Aelwyn likes living in Mordred well enough. It's certainly better than when she and Adaine lived with their parents, and it's probably better than the prison she doesn't remember, even if everyone here is annoying, even if Adaine and all the adventuers and all the adults have left right as the creepy parts of living in a haunted house start to make themselves known.
The only person who she can ask for help is Ayda, who she's got just about nothing in common with other than wizardry. Hello, she went to Hudol, this teamwork and adventure shit's more Aguefort's thing? Whatever. She can put up with Ayda long enough to figure out what's going on and stop it. How hard can it be to find and kill a couple ghosts, anyway?
