What he doesn't expect is to meet someone who fits into his life like he's always belonged there, who takes him on dates and kisses him sweet, who makes Izuku feel warm inside and out.
Or, Izuku visits the town's annual harvest festival with his friends, meets an extremely handsome, angry man while waiting in line for candied apples, and falls in love. There's not as much time between those last two things as Izuku might've expected.

“Oh baby,” Katsuki drawls, pressing his thumb into Deku’s cheek, watches as Deku’s lifting his pelvis again. Rolling against nothing, humping the fucking air. His hand’s moving before he can think, ever present instinct to take care of Deku kicking in. “Sweetheart, you’re soaked down here.”
