Summary
The night after intertwining their souls in the astral plane, Gale and Elenion decide to share something simpler, but just as intimate: their first time together in their physical bodies. But Gale is still worried that he has nothing to offer outside his magic, and Elenion is struggling to stop performing the version of himself that he learned to be for past lovers. Through patience, tenderness, and a lot of heat, they learn how to quiet each other's doubts.

Summary
Gale is fully prepared to sacrifice himself, certain that his fate is sealed. Elenion is less willing to accept that this story must have a tragic ending. He desperately wants to fight for Gale, to convince him to live, but speaking the words he needs to say is much harder than he imagined. By the end of the night he lets go of everything he's been holding in, and in that vulnerability, Gale guides him toward accepting a new kind of intimacy—one where he can be truly seen, and fully loved.

No, not firebrands, Victor mentally amends. More like a shooting star, burning bright as it zips across the night sky. Solitary celestial beings who are beautiful to behold, to wish upon, but impossible to catch.
Victor is going to try anyway.
“Yuuri,” he whispers. He cradles Yuuri’s flushed face delicately within both his palms. “Can I kiss you?”
