He paled, bowing as far as he could from his position on the chair. “I’m so sorry, miss,” he fixed his eyes to the floor, “my name is Ijichi Kiyotaka. Thank you for having me.”
Her laugh was like the chiming of bells, high and sweet but slightly off putting; hearing it during the sunlight was relaxing, pleasing, but at night? Ijichi shivered.
“It’s no problem at all, sweetheart,” she smiled, her lips blood red. “My name is Satoru. Can I get you anything? A drink, a bite to eat?”
“Just- just a phone call, if that’s alright.”
Another smile. It didn’t reach her eyes. “Of course.”
Stranded in a storm, Ijichi is desperate for shelter. He decides, upon meeting the strangely pale owner of the only house nearby, that he should have taken his chances in the rain.
