    "Mm." Izuku's sleepy eyes flutter open as he smiles. "Hi, Kacchan."

    Katsuki's chest rises with a silent sigh, but he returns Izuku's greeting with a nod. "Tired?"

    Izuku's fingers peek out past the fur stole stitched into the cape's hem. They're red at the edges, but the smell wafting off them tells Katsuki it's from spilled wine and not because he's injured.

    Katsuki reaches out to touch anyway.

    "I'm happy," Izuku says.

    Katsuki pauses, fingers already entwined in Izuku's. He hovers his other nearby, unsure if he wants to touch Izuku more directly, or just hold onto his hand.

    He opts for the latter, curling his palms around Izuku's fingers and kissing the faint taste of wine away from the tips. "So am I, beloved. You're finally mine."

    Or... Izuku's body starts to change after mating with Katsuki. And Katsuki has to come to a decision on whether to stay and watch his beloved die a slow death, or leave forever.

    "Kacchan?"

    Katsuki's fingers stop where they were tracing gentle circles across Izuku's bare stomach. He's unwrapped like a gift, his many many layers forming a nest beneath the both of them. It's too dark for either of them to see each other's faces, but Katsuki leans in close anyway.

    "What, Deku?"

    "I'm really happy you're here with me."

    Katsuki breathes in slow and deep, almost the beginnings of a sigh. Instead, he lets his head fall into the space against Izuku's sternum. He can hear the way Izuku hesitates, how his voice catches in his chest a bit before he continues,

    "I know I asked a lot of you with… with this. And I'm /sorry/. But you're the person I trust most to do it right. I…"

    "I'm happy I'm with you too," Katsuki interrupts, softly.

    Izuku is their village's sacrifice, and it's Katsuki duty to be the one to take him up the mountain to his death. Even if he really doesn't want to.

    “Bakugo, you need to update your costume.” Kirishima said, “There’s this one dude in the support class- he’s got a literal waiting list, that’s how good he is- but he did my new upgrade."

    “Yeah,” Bakugo sighs and leans back on his hands, staring at the bracer. “I know. I’ll go,” his mouth twists a little. “I’ll go tomorrow. This is just- this is my design you know?” he’s not explaining himself very well, and refuses to look at Kirishima.

    “It can be hard to give up your first hero design, and you did a great job,” Kirishima said. “You definitely had the best one out of all of us when we first got our costumes."

    Bakugo hunched his shoulders. “I didn’t design it,” he grumbled.
