Summary
A sensible person would call them friends-with-benefits. Logically, that’s exactly what it was, except things were never that easy with Luke. They knew too much about each other for it to be just that. Friends-with-benefits implied a casualness that Michael could never bring himself to feel, it implied that when it was over, you could simply shrug and go back to normal without anything changing. Every time he brushed off one of Luke’s looks or pulled away from his touch, Michael felt like he was running.

Michael and Luke end their situationship at 18 and Michael spends the next 7 years losing hair about it.

Unexpectedly, he'd felt the cold press of fingertips on his chin. His heart jumped if only for the one second he got to process before Luke was guiding his head up, his face close and his lips to Michael's.
Oh.
Yeah, there it was.
That all consuming rush of adrenaline, excitement. The feeling of his limbs going numb for a moment. Luke's rough palms held his neck and cheeks and heart right in them without even trying once again. Without having to ask and without doing so at all.

The way Luke could feel Michael's eyes on him during Easier should have given it away, but apparently, the younger was just oblivious. Instead, he blushed and continued singing as if his boyfriend wasn't undressing him with his eyes.
But when they did their power point presentation, everything fell into place. Luke needed a long moment to understand that the lore for their show in Baltimore was him being tied up for the Easier music video. Next to him, Michael erupted into laughter, but Luke immediately knew that he was feigning innocence. Without a doubt, Michael had given their team the idea of using that for the presentation.
Luke swore he would strangle Michael for this - preferably tonight, in their hotel room, while they had mind-blowing sex. And if Michael was lucky, he would only be choked instead of strangled.
