Juwon?
Chihen really doesn’t think anything of Juwon. Juwon is a swim genius and he is best friends with JL and his family is perfect. He is terribly nice to everybody and lets himself be pushed around and even if he’s in an awkward position he won’t say anything. He is in Chihen’s grade and he is everywhere.
“He’s my friend,” Chihen says.
[Nobody really knows what Chihen thinks of Juwon. Not even Chihen himself.]

You’re cute, Han does not say. Instead he just backs JL up against one of the pillars and kisses him. JL tastes like the wind, like the berries and seeds under their feet, his mouth open and pliant. Han presses closer, JL’s hair soft underneath his fingers where he has a hand curled around his nape.
They stay like that for some time, and Han’s reluctant to pull away but when he does—
It’s like, JL is so lovely, right? And while some part of Han wants to keep JL’s pretty smile to himself, he also knows that this is a stupid wish. It would be akin to trying to steal the blue out of the sky. JL’s smile is a natural resource, like sunlight and water, meant to be shared by everybody.
Right now JL is not smiling. Right now his eyes are dark and his mouth is red and he looks at Han like he wants more. And Han thinks, let this be mine. Let this version of JL be his and his alone.
[Han has always worked hard to be good at the things he cares about. He just hopes that JL doesn't mind his learning curve.]

“Do I talk in my sleep?” Nico asks Euijoo one day.
Euijoo purses her lips, considering this for a moment. “No, I don’t think so,” she says. “At least, I’ve never heard you saying anything. Why do you ask?”
“Just curious,” Nico says lightly.
She has to check, just to make sure. She’s worked so hard to keep her secret from Euijoo so far and doesn’t want to ruin it with something stupid like that. Living so close to her feels dangerous. Makes it worse, like there’s no room behind her ribcage for anything else besides her heart.

There is a particularly memorable Saturday when Euijoo walks into the room and sees Nicholas texting on his phone and wearing a plaid skirt, his legs bare underneath.
“Um,” Euijoo says, trying not to swallow his tongue. “Are you going out?”
“Oh,” Nicholas says. He runs a hand through his hair. “No. I’m just really behind on laundry, actually.”
Oh, so Nicholas is wearing that to do laundry. That’s… cool. Euijoo doesn’t have an opinion on this at all, mostly because his brain is lagging like it’s on one bar of wifi. He wants to say that Nicholas looks nice, but instead just gives him a thumbs up. Euijoo quietly gets his laptop out of his backpack and considers dropping out of school.
[In freshman year of university, Euijoo and Nicholas are assigned to be roommates.]

Harua glares at him. “Don’t even joke about that.”
Harua does not like Maki. All Harua knows about him is that he’s on the football team and that last month he beaned Harua in the head with a dodge ball during gym class. Which would be fine, everybody knows that high school dodgeball isn’t personal, except when Maki came to apologize he told Harua: “I’m sorry, and also, I want to say that you’re really… short.”

“Well, I’m good at lying, so I’d do most of it,” Yuma says. “Maybe I’d tell people that one day, I saw your contact and hit you up out of the blue, because I always thought that you were attractive back in university. And then we went on a couple of dates, and I ended up really falling for you, and you returned my feelings. All you would have to do is look at me like you like me.”
Jo frowns.
“Yeah, that might be too hard for you,” Yuma concedes.
