“It’s hot in here,” Solenne says, voice thick, sparing a glance around the Elfsong to see if other patrons were uncomfortable. The only other person who seems mildly displeased is Shadowheart, though in her thin rest clothes, the only indication of this is a bead of sweat rolling down her collarbone and across her chest.
“H-hey, focus,” Shadowheart says, demanding Solenne’s attention away from her cleavage. “We should… well I hate to need Gale’s opinion but—“
Lae’zel scoffs. “Tch, you don’t need the wizard’s opinion. If you would trust me for once—“
“Wait, you know what’s going on?” Karlach demands. “Are they going to be okay?”
“Calm yourself!” Lae’zel hisses in a fake whisper. “We do not want to alarm anyone, most of all our enemies. They will be fine. They just need an… unconventional treatment.”
“Oh no…” Solenne says, realization dawning. Her heightened sensitivity, her straying thoughts, her inability to look away from how Karlach tenses her arms as she grips the table; it can only mean one thing.

An AU of the original tale of Eddie Gluskin from Outlast: Whistleblower! In this AU, Eddie was never a murderer before being sent to Mount Massive Asylum. Instead, he was genuinely a very kind, sweet man through his life despite his horrid past involving the abuse he was forced under by the hands of his father and uncle. As he grew older, thanks to his mother always being by his side to help him stand on his own feet, Eddie found the strength in himself to try to build that happy, normal life he has always wanted. The kind of life that includes a family all of his own in which he could be the father his own never was to him. However, thanks to a bad decision to try to find closure with his past, he has been sent to Mount Massive Asylum as a result, labeled 'a danger to society' with his 'mental instability'. Though his stay is dreadful in the beginning, he eventually meets _______, the new orderly who is assigned to his section of the hospital to replace his old one. _______ is the first woman Eddie has ever met who has ever treated him with genuine kindness and patience as well as the first Massive staff who sees him as an equal. Their bond forms quick, but will it hold in the malevolent depths of Mount Massive?
