“That’s okay,” Lois said, the words a little tight. Hot chocolate was Clark's go-to drink. “I don’t need anything.”
But Mrs. Kent was already moving towards the kitchen, her hands smoothing down her apron and fiddling with her hair and brushing over surfaces as she went, and Lois was struck suddenly with a sense of familiarity; she knew this type of worried fiddling. All that anxious energy had to go somewhere.
Cautiously, Lois followed her. “Maybe some coffee?”

He closed his eyes.
Bruce had stopped barely one full step past the doorway, but he was moving now, each step bringing him closer to Clark. With no outside sound to filter through, and with his eyes tightly closed, Clark's whole world finally narrowed entirely to Bruce. His surefooted steps. His steady breathing. The beautiful thrum of his heartsong, perfectly unique to him, perfectly composed and in control. The sound of ruffling fabric as he unbuttoned the cuffs of his sleeves and rolled them up.
The feel of his callous-rough fingertips, gently reaching out to trace a path along Clark’s jawline.
Clark shuddered at the touch, at the trail of fire left behind where Bruce’s fingers had slid across his skin. He wanted to lean into it desperately. He didn't.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered instead. His chest ached.
Bruce pressed his palm flat against Clark’s cheek. “I know,” he said. And then, “Red lights on.”
Or: After a difficult case on another planet, Clark deals with his guilt by not sleeping or taking care of himself or talking to his partner. When it all comes crashing down, Bruce finally intervenes.

When a run-in with a sorcerer leaves Clark displaced from his body, Bruce finds himself playing host to his friend's wayward spirit.

Bruce thinks that if Kal contained even 5% less optimism, he’d run. He’d know there was a magical beam coming for his head and he’d have darted somewhere, anywhere. Into space, was one great idea. But instead he looks up to meet them, all hopeful eyes and all-white smile; like their pylon-parading magician’s going to chuck in the towel and apologize for the fuss.
Instead, Clark is hit square in the chest with a volt of pure magical energy. Bruce bellows.
