Summary
After a mission gone wrong leaves Simon “Ghost” Riley deaf in one ear and Johnny “Soap” MacTavish with a permanent leg injury, both men are forced into early retirement. Soap uses his pension to buy a crumbling house on the edge of a quiet town, determined to make something of it, even if the place looks like it should’ve come with a tetanus shot.
Ghost shows up with a duffel bag and his usual scowl, moving into the guest room to help with renovations. Between faulty wiring, leaking pipes, and a fridge that seems to growl at two a.m., the two of them fall into a new rhythm of grocery runs, hardware store trips, and late-night fixes. The banter is sharp, the silences softer than either expected, and somewhere between the broken walls and peeling paint, they begin to rebuild more than just the house.
It’s a story about finding purpose when the battlefield is gone, about healing old wounds in the comfort of shared domestic chaos, and about realizing that sometimes “home” isn’t a place, it’s each other.

Summary
Dick’s eyes, normally bright and sharp, are glazed over in pain, though they still manage to trail over to Jason, the only visible sign he’s actually awake. Another gob of blood leaks from his mouth, landing with a splat into the half-congealed puddle on the floor, and Jason takes a deep breath in through his nose.
He has, in his time as both Robin and Red Hood, seen all manners of injuries. Gross ones. Gruesome ones. They all have. Looking at Dick now, he can see at least six things that’d make a regular person’s stomach turn, but only one that’s got Jason nauseous.

Summary
Kaz had to admit the traffickers were surprisingly clever – for thick-skulled pirates, at least. He had not expected to be ambushed on the site of his future textile manufacture out of town. Or, well, what was supposed to be the site of his new project. Seeing as he’d been set up, it seemed he would need to find a new abandoned warehouse to repurpose. It was an annoying detail that would have to wait, however, since he was presently tied up to a chair.
Inej's enemies capture Kaz to lure her in a trap. It doesn't end well for them.
