"..I'll go," Shuriken announces after a heartbeat of silence. "Sorry for wasting your time."
He should've let it happen. He should've let the entire thing blow over and descalate on its own.
Instead, he says, "Wait."
The other inphernal stalls. "What is it?"
Coil has an idea. He's got a ton of those, but this one in particular could either go really well or really bad, and there's no clear way to define what exactly happens in those two outcomes. All he has to do is just risk it.
Wolf said it was a bad habit of his. Coil didn't really care.

Summary
The bowl remained where Cozyshot had left it.
The forest swayed gently in the distance.
Watching.
Waiting.
And sometime during the night, something emerged from between the trees.
Or: After moving to a quiet village surrounded by snow-covered pines, Cozyshot is determined to make a fresh start. The locals are kind, the scenery is beautiful, and despite the strange warnings about the forest, life seems almost perfect.
Then they leave a bowl of soup outside.
The next morning, it's gone.

Something's off with Hyperlaser.
It's not just the way he looks; no, something's wrong with the way he's acting. To the untrained eye, any inphernal would brush it off as the mercenary being off at heart, but Shuriken, Slingshot, and Vine Staff think they know better. Together, they set off to find out what might be going on behind the scenes with this desperate, damaged inphernal, and if they're lucky, then they might finally be the push he needs to confess his love to Katana.
