“Your champagne,” Tommy says with a sooty half-smirk, while Buck irrationally feels like his bluff’s been made. Tommy taps a finger twice against the plastic in his hand. “It’s empty. Can I get you some more?”

Buck keeps having to remind himself that he’s not tricking Tommy into doing any of this. It’s not like when he was a kid, collecting scars and scrapes like scrapbook souvenirs just to feel the rare brush of his mother’s cold hand on his cheek. Tommy’s been here with him through this because he’s wanted to be here, because caring for Buck is not just something he’s fucking phenomenal at, but something he genuinely derives satisfaction from. The hand solidly slotted against Buck’s back is not there because it’s been coaxed against his will. Sure, arms have been twisted this past week, but none of them were Tommy’s.

Tommy slammed down on the talk button. “Mayday mayday mayday! Wallis Lodge. Several armed assailants and multiple hostages. We need help! Mayday!”
The radio bleeped a dooming cheerful noise as he let up on the talk button.
Tommy strained to hear if anyone picked his signal up from the chatter. He was trapped in a windowless room in the middle of the mountains during a snowstorm so he didn’t have much hope but he had to try!
Static filled the channel.

Tommy’s gaze slides lazily around the crowded room as he waits for Lucy to return. None of this had ever really been his scene: the pumping bass, the dim lights, the sweaty bodies gyrating together in one big mass. Even when he’d first started hooking up with men, he’d only stay in places like this long enough to follow an interested party into some dark corner before suggesting they relocate to somewhere more private.
Then Tommy’s eyes catch on a familiar head of curly hair at the bar, and time seems to slow down.
