Mike looks around at his friends. Dustin’s toothy grin, Lucas and Max’s fond smiles, eyebrows raised expectantly. Finally, into Will’s bright eyes. He’s looking up at him in such a way that Mike knows, deep down, would compel him to do even the worst of things, if he asked. He steals the quickest of glances at those lips, because he just can’t help himself.
Reluctantly, he turns to the group at large. One more eye roll and groan for good luck—“Okay, okay. But Lucas, we’re taking your car.”
Because if Will’s drinking tonight, so is Mike.

Everyone around Mike seems to have someone to kiss for New Years. Lucas has Max. Joyce has Hopper. Nancy has Jonathan. His mom has his dad (Ew.) Robin has… whoever she has.
And Mike wouldn’t say he feels left out but… fuck, okay, he feels left out. He wants someone to share that special, pivotal New Year’s kiss with too.

Jeremy, Saint Jeremy, nudges him with an elbow. “He’s kind of private about it, but Mike actually has someone back home.”
