Summary
Book 2 in Secret-Keepers, an AU Marauders fic.
Sirius Black never thought he'd have to understand politics, and he especially didn't think he'd want to start understanding them at age twelve. But as pure-blood families -- including his own -- start to voice their prejudices, every aspect of wizarding society is affected. Even Hogwarts.
Add to that his younger brother getting sorted into Slytherin, Lucius Malfoy deciding to make his life hell, and whatever the fuck is going on with Remus, and it's bound to be an interesting year.

Summary
When Sirius Black was 5 years old, he woke up in the night to an agonizing pain. He pulled down his pyjama pants to look at his hip. In the warm glow of lamplight, the jagged bite mark seemed to dance like fire, gold rippling across his skin. It took up his entire hip, and he shuddered to imagine the massive creature that must have made it. He nearly threw up in horror and wondered if he'd know if his soulmate had died.
For as long as Remus Lupin could remember, nasty and twisted marks would show up on his skin before vanishing with a sickening regularity. For the entirety of his first term at Hogwarts, not a single mark appears.

Summary
A wizarding band branching into the Muggle world had been scoffed at and mocked, but Sirius and his friends have succeeded. They have each other, they have what they create together, and that's enough, except when it isn't. Holding back secrets no one can know about makes life nearly impossible to maneuver. With the addition of a brother who does the wrong things for the right reasons, hidden feelings, and some broken boundaries, they find their lives upended more than they'd ever anticipated.
Sirius struggles to connect his head and his heart, battling against those that would see his true self hidden away from the prying eyes of the world. But he's fine with that. He has to be, even if he's one of the few who sees it that way.
