Summary
“All he said was dress up,” says Ren. “That could mean anything.”
“Well, I think you should take Lady Ann as your inspiration!” says Morgana. Morgana knows nothing about dressing up because he is a cat. A guy cat. But he’s being supportive. “She always looks relaxed and comfortable, but beautiful and perfect too!”

Summary
If you’d asked Ren to make a list of things Akechi might do after surviving certain death, twice, he would not have put ‘continue his dumb celebrity career’ on it anywhere. Like, not even as a back-up option. Not even close.
Akechi shrugs. “My agent called. There was still interest. I need money to live. Do you expect me to get a job at 777?”
Akechi’s face is on the 777. His smile glimmers out at the world, his eyes sparkling with secrets, as if nothing could be more coyly, erotically compelling than a cheap can of iced tea. The photographer seems to have been very, very interested in the way Akechi’s long fingers in black leather gloves set off the sweet curve of his lower lip. Every time Ren works a shift he has to look at this poster for hours. And the advertising campaign is working, so he also has to look at the mini-version on the special limited edition cans of iced tea that everyone is suddenly buying.

Summary
“Okay, two possibilities,” says Futaba. “One, we hit some kind of trap or tripwire back in the Palace and it set off a strong status ailment that we don’t know how to cure. Or two, Dr Maruki just granted the wish of someone who always really, really wanted Goro Akechi to be a girl.”

Summary
“I think he can’t come today!”
Akechi startles. Embarrassing. Yoshizawa is hardly unobtrusive. The street lights of the January evening pick up the shocking red of her hair and the sparkle of her eyes. She moves like a dancer, as if every step might become a graceful leap. Strangers she passes smile to see her go. She’s full of sparkle this week; the wilting flower performance of the first half of January is all over, and she’s started tying her hair up again in what is probably—
Akechi doesn’t care about this. Why does he still notice these things? It doesn’t matter.
—probably a sincere tribute to her dead sister, rather than a tragic imitation.
Spend long enough playing the detective, and some sad and pointless part of you can’t stop pretending.

Summary
On the morning of February 4th, most of a decade ago, Akechi wakes with a start, stares blindly up at the tiles of the ceiling without registering what he’s looking at, and says out loud, “Well, that’s embarrassing.”
