Summary
Physically separated by college, the party keeps in touch with each other with weekly, carefully scheduled one-on-one phone calls.
One Sunday, Will lets it slip to Mike that he's been having problems with a boy at his school. But unlike the problems Will’s used to– bullying, teasing, distressingly doodled-over newspaper cutouts of articles announcing his own un-death– the problem this time is that the guy likes him. And that he's the childhood best friend of Will’s college best friend. And that he’ll be at said college best friend’s birthday party this Saturday.
Mike volunteers to drive up to Will’s school so he can attend the party and be Will’s meat shield for a night. Now Will has to deal with a very protective (and jealous?) Mike Wheeler, a deeply displeased prospective love interest, and a bed that is absolutely too small for him and Mike to fit into at the end of the night.

Summary
“I don’t think that it has to mean that you’re into guys,” Lucas says. His words are accompanied by a casual shrug, and said in the tone of someone who has clearly already given this subject some thought. Will doesn’t know what to do with that information. Jump from a building, maybe. “I mean, we’d all get flustered if Spider-Man carried us in his arms.”
Mike points to him enthusiastically. “Thank you, Lucas.”
Dustin looks between the two of them, his eyes narrowed.
“...Would we?”
“Sure,” Mike concludes. “He’s attractive. That’s not a weird thing to think.”
Will just barely resists the urge to bang his head against the table. He feels Dustin’s eyes glued to his burning face, and sinks even further down his chair.
In which Mike tells Spider-Man that he has a crush on his best friend, and Will jumps to some very wrong conclusions.

Summary
“Was what true?”
“That you—that you moved on. That you are over me. It was me, right?”
And despite the direction of Will’s current thoughts, that still catches him off guard. His brain works slow, thoughts sluggish. He drops his hands from Mike’s hips to his legs, which is a mistake. His shorts have ridden up with the way he’s straddling Will, and Will finds his fingers on the naked skin of Mike’s thighs.
He has no idea what he would have said. Is kind of glad, in retrospect, that he doesn’t find out, because Mike is looking at him with his eyes blown wide and his lips bitten red, and says, voice rough and plaintive, “Please don’t be in love with someone else.”
Ever since the world didn't end, Mike has been—touchy. Will would be lying if he claimed to mind.

Summary
Her mouth dropped open, just slightly, eyes wide and uneasy. “But… Will’s a boy.”
A statement heavy as it is true. Mike wet his lips, unshed tears burning his entire face.
“Max…” He muttered faintly.
A brief, incredulous smile flickered across her features, like she was waiting for the punchline. “Yeah??”
Mike just stared at her through tired, unblinking eyes. His heart was thrumming so violently in his ears that he was convinced she could hear it too.
“Oh shit,” She breathed, face slackening with realization.
“Oh shit,” he echoed.

Summary
“Uh-huh,” Mike says faintly, and he yelps when they narrowly avoid the edge of a shining skyscraper, and his hands clutch onto Spiderman instinctively. “Oh – my fucking God, that –”
Spiderman’s fingers press a little firmly into Mike’s shirt. "Just – hang on!"
"What do you mean just hang – was that a pun," Mike sputters, clutching onto Spiderman for dear life as they swing through the city, and he can hear the superhero laugh through the racing wind in his ears, the rumble of it under Mike’s arm wrapped around his middle.
In a city of superheroes, Mike keeps running into Spiderman, much to his dismay.
On a completely different and unrelated note, Mike also attempts to woo and charm his neighbor into a date.- Language:
