It’s as if Nick’s knowledge of the English language has vanished, as if there’s only one word left in his vocabulary. His voice is pleading as he, once again, whispers, “Please.”

Maybe he could have gotten away with it if he had just sent the song, but of course, he had to tell Nick that the song reminded him of Nick. Brilliant. Charlie might as well have stood in front of Nick’s door with a poster that said, “Hey! I’m in love with you!”. Actually, that might have been less obvious than the ballad he just sent.
And not only is the idea of Nick knowing about his feelings absolutely mortifying, but he responded to the message. His response didn’t even leave room for Charlie to pretend that Nick didn’t understand the meaning behind the lyrics because why else would he reply with just “Oh” to it, then?
AKA The one where Charlie accidentally confesses his feelings for Nick by sending him a love song.

Maybe he was always meant to end up like this. All the decisions he made in his life, at the time presumed as an act of free will, but all along a part of some convoluted plan—kismet, predestination, fate—whatever it was, maybe he was always supposed to end up here, in this liminal space where time seems to stand still and his mind just won’t stop conjuring these beautiful, however heart-shattering images, with a speed reminding him that there is, in fact, no way to stop time. There is no way to stop this all-consuming ache in his chest, that seems to only get more and more unbearable each day he spends in Nick’s presence.
or: Nick is Charlie's new housemate, and Charlie develops a crush. Obviously. It's less angsty than in seems.
