    Summary

She has imagined potential reunions with Lae'zel before, but she never imagined they would occur before the death of the Lich Queen. It would feel like caging a wild animal. Lae'zel would always be looking outward, wondering about the Astral Sea and the fate of her people.

But Shadowheart is not a perfect creature. She houses these wild animals anyway. She watches wolves, squirrels, and cats lumber through the widened door of her cottage, embracing the warmth of her hostel and the gentle touch of her hands before returning to their own homes. She wonders if Lae’zel will come back to her in this way—imagines Lae’zel coming to visit for a single night before returning to the moon above where Shadowheart sends her prayers.

Farmer Shads and Warrior Lae'zel, continued from the good endings, Shads POV.

One day, Lae'zel just decided to show up at Shad's house with the gith egg about to hatch. Forced adoption with an unintended marriage proposal as a side dish lol

The story tells how Shads raised Xan while also facing the hardship of Lae'zel's absence. Lae'zel regularly returning to Faerun (instead of going back to Shads after the war) added more depth to their dynamics, and I think it is the best post-canon continuation for their "good endings." It's almost like an AU of a modern soldier assigned to work in a deadly war in another country while her family waits.

Timeline can be confusing, especially when the flashbacks go from here to there and back. Needs re-reading to add favorite parts here.

    Summary

When the party's only cleric falls ill, nearly everyone is at a loss. Shadowheart must endure her companion's well-intentioned but mostly misguided attempts at healing. When her sickness takes a turn for the worst, help comes from Faerûn's least likely candidate.

Classic "gf taking care of sick gf" fic lol. Shads is so chaotic while having fever dreams, then Lae'zel being a surprisingly good caretaker is sweet. She is Mamazel loool (ok Cha, see yourself out).
I kinda want to imagine Lae'zel's class action "Rally" was in play here somewhere, like, healing someone by nagging at them loool

That ending is so beautiful! Shads falling first, but Lae'zel falling harder. Fav thing is that Shads thought Lae'zel what real devotion is and Lae'zel made Shads be seen and loved after Shads grew up where affection was dangled in front of her.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Shadowzel and Bloodweave stories told through letters from Shadowheart and Gale.

Shadowheart sorts out her feelings toward the gith as she gets used to her new life with her parents, and Lae'zel chooses to spend her life in Faerûn after the gith civil war. It's cute because I think both Shads' parents knew what was going on (hence the mother offering to make Lae'zel a scarf). BUT THEY ARE SO USELESS THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO PROGRESS THEIR RELATIONSHIP LOL

Also, I'm not a total fan of Bloodweave (because Bloodpact is better thematically), but it's interesting that it was Gale who figured out how to help Astarion walk under the sun. Sometimes I forget that he was an Archmage and Mystra's chosen before the Karsite weave nerfed him.

And yeah! Such an interesting and funny thing they thought about the Lathander! Imagine the holy artifact getting dust in Shad's basement looooooool

The letter correspondence is actually such an interesting way to write a story, kinda inspires me a bit to write again.

    Summary

Shar took everything from her. Every memory, every remnant of who she was, and the every variation of the woman that young Selûnite girl was supposed to be.

Now Shadowheart's pregnant with Lae'zel's child, with their child. A surprise, yet, not an unwelcome one. As joyous as she may feel, reality soon set in -- she has nothing to give. No family, no culture, not even a name of her own. Until she met Lae'zel, hatred was all Shadowheart's ever known.

And Lae'zel! She doesn't know the first thing about love either! Because why else would she say such callous things?!

Feelings build up, boundaries are crossed, tempers flare, and Shadowheart learns that love isn't always how it appears in fairy tales.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Post canon exploration of Shads as someone who was raised in a cult and almost have no memories of her past, and Laezel as someone who was raised to be a pawn and remembers every single thing of the troubled life she escaped. Drum roll, they're having s half-elf gith.

(No seriously what would their child look like? Fair gith with smooth ears and slightly bigger nose?)

Not a big fan of Fpreg ( is that what its called?) but this fic excellently explored real fears of soon-to-be parents who believe themselves to be undeserving of such legacy (while staying in character too, well a bit OOC on Lae's part).

I was expecting fics like these to use Xan the Gith Egg, but the Fpreg turned out fine for this instance.
