Chapter 4: Road Trip
“Do you think you’d ever want to go to space?” she asked, still gazing skyward.
“I did when I was a kid,” he replied. “Wanted to fly a Naboo Starfighter and blow up another Death Star, since the Sequels proved that the bad guys have no better ideas to take over a galaxy.”
Gwen rolled her eyes. “What about now? You don’t think you’d want to go?”
He thought about it. “Honestly, there’s so much I haven’t seen in our dimensions. But if you ever go to space, you bet your sweet behind that I’m going with you.”
“Even if I wanted to explore Uranus?” she asked, barely able to keep her laughter in check. Miles laughed, shaking his head while Gwen was practically patting herself on the back. When she regained composure, she asked, “Why do you put up with me?”
“Because,” he began a matter of factly, “you’re my favorite person in any universe.”

Summary
“You were staring,” began the cashier, leaning closer, “at my sister’s tits. Hey, Vi! This lady pervert was staring at your tits!”
Her heart had to have stopped as the baker’s – Vi’s – silvery, blue eyes scanned her. But before Caitlyn even had a chance to process the immediate thoughts of fleeing, or moving to another country, the baker – Vi – flirtatiously grinned and that was enough to jump start Caitlyn’s heart. She leaned against the counter, her grin widening and turning more playful.
“I’m very proud of them!”
---
When she was 16, Caitlyn believed she was a misfit. Punk rock filled her veins and fueled her mind. Her hair was streaked with neon pinks and greens. She wanted to change the world, and defend those who could not defend themselves. Every day was a new adventure. Every day was a new dream.
Fast-forward 13 years, and Caitlyn was employed as a staff attorney for a corporation with not a single streak of artificial color in her hair. Every day was the same: no new adventures. No new dreams. But one fateful morning, the single act of forgetting her earpods in her apartment before her morning jog would change everything.
