Summary
Spiritual power resides in the strands.
It's a saying her grandmother had always told Momo for as long as she can remember. Whenever her tiny hands would pick up the comb, her fingers found a way to connect to the people around her more intimately.
It's a tender action, a kind gesture, and a means for forgiveness.

Bookmarker's Notes
It was weird, how comfortable he felt in that moment. The idea that being so close to someone — so vulnerable — could leave him feeling content. Comfortable.
Safe.
The idea that being so close to someone could bring him the feeling of comfort was something he never thought could happen. Wasn't even something he wanted, because becoming close to someone meant he had more to lose.
Now, he wouldn't trade it for anything.

Bookmarker's Notes
"Because I like to," she answered with a shrug, wiggling her fingers in front of her own face to admire. "It's a big part of gyaru culture, you know. I don't have nails as long as some girls who do it — especially not with combat possible at any moment, I am not making my nails at a higher risk of snapping off — but I love the culture behind it."
He tilted his head, never having understood any of this in the first place. Luckily, rather than being annoyed, she just smiled at him before further explaining."
"Gyaru is about a lot of things, but a big part of it is about self expression, being yourself and not what society tells you to be," she continued. "And just like I change my clothes every day, I change who I am a little bit every day, too. Who I am today is different from who I was yesterday, and who I am tomorrow will be different from who I am today."

Summary
Two years ago, the Kur came back, their fleet even more vast than before.
Humanity didn't stand a chance - but the yokai did.
They annihilated the invaders in a haze of bloodlust and fury, defending their territory with horrific ferocity. That should have been the end of it. Earth was finally free of the globalist threat, once and for all, and the dead aren't meant to harm the living.
But the immune response didn't stop.At the end of the world, the Ayase residence becomes the last known stronghold for aliens and humans alike. Momo Ayase must fill her grandmother's role or risk the lives of everyone left, but it's a near-impossible task. It's made more difficult by each passing day she marks in her calendar. Hard to care about the future when your heart is stuck on what's been lost.
Meanwhile, outside the safety of their walls, a new threat lurks. It has a promise to keep.
