Amidst nights and mornings, Gotham City exists on the far reaches of your consciousness. Working at Wayne Enterprises’ research and development requires your focus. There’s no excuse for sloppiness when it’s all you do. Gotham City doesn’t give you the luxury of being about town when crime is everywhere. The street corners are in shadows which criminals are eager to drag you into. There’s nothing to do here in Gotham.
So you try to forget about the city outside your work. The crowds below blend with rain. This murky hometown with lingering attachments and emotions tied to it you struggle to sever. You work hard. You focus on making a name for yourself. Something that can exist outside of the grayness of Gotham. Something to respect and validate you outside of this city of smog, rain, and fear. You don’t exist without the work.
Then Bruce Wayne comes along.
