“He protects us.” Jinx insisted. “Without him, I’d be a goner. Killed by you and your Firelights…” Jinx glanced at Ekko, her glowing eyes hard and unyielding. “…Or locked up, to be some experiment for those pilties.” Jinx hands let out a flicker of purple fire accenting her anger. She closed her hands to tight fists. An uneasy silence settled between them.
“I didn’t asked to be like this, y’know.” Jinx said finally. The sadness slumped down her shoulders, she hugged her legs. “To be different… a monster. Or at least I don’t think I did…” She hung her head as her voice trailed, her mind a million miles away.
As he watched her eyes glisten, Ekko wished he could alleviate her worries, pull her close, tell it was going to be okay…
Woah. Slow down.
Ekko rubbed his temples. That is an alarming thought to have about the enemy. About a being that threatened his whole existence. And yet…
