Summary
With frostbite ravishing your skin, frozen half to death, you find yourself at the mercy of a strange cult up in the mountainous wilderness.
You're a foreigner, a stranger from a strange land, here to fulfill your destiny. If only you could remember what it was, as the incense and the rotten fragrance of lotus flowers clouds your mind, your every decision, feverdreams and reality start blurring and people go missing. The scent of blood and madness ghosting through the halls becomes impossible to ignore.
You know he is watching you, you can feel him in your nightmares, touch on your skin you know shouldn't be there. And you know you're not going to make it until spring.
He's hungry.
(Basically, a Douma x fem.Reader self insert kinda thing. It leans a little more on the uncanny side of things, some mind-fuckery, drugging, feverdreams, some surrealism, some gore and some smut for good measure. The usual cult shenanigans. I tried to do this gorgeous psychopath some justice. Lowkey inspired by Dracula, in the lowest of keys though. . Also, obvious parallel to the Lotus eaters from the Odyssey.)

The others in the temple of Eternal Paradise are endlessly kind. Grateful to care for you. They speak of salvation, of their divine leader, of a paradise beyond suffering.
The mountain pass is sealed under snow. Until the spring thaw, there’s no way out. Fortunately, their leader is beautiful, loving, and generous.
His attention is a gift.

Summary
It was notoriously hard to gather any sort of information on the Upper Moons. Not that the corps hadn’t tried - teams had been sent out, Hashira deployed. None had come back alive.
Whispers had been spread, though. Several pointing towards one lead - a cult, out in the mountains, with a founder who hasn't died in over a century and numbers which stay suspiciously low no matter how many people join. Plus the numerous disappearances and carnage clearly left behind by a demon in nearby villages, without any culprit being found.
A demon's work, clearly. Most likely an Upper Moon.
Thus, the plan had been born. Infiltrate the cult. Gather intel. Use it to figure out how to slay the suspected Upper Moon successfully.
And, of course, nothing goes to plan.
