Summary
Yanqing of the Cloud Knights was a prodigy - there was no denying that. He had mastered the art of the sword, even able to wield multiple swords at once, was a Lieutenant to the same Cloud Knights and had defeated multiple powerful monsters.
But what everyone, including Yanqing himself, failed to realise was that he was a child. A child who craved attention and validation. A child whose ambitions shone so brightly they blinded everyone who was made known of them.
But what the child failed to realise was that no matter how good and skilled a person may be, there would always be that someone who was better than him. And when those people knocked Yanqing off his self-built pedestal, he fell, and he fell hard.

The Duke of the Fortress of Meropide had quite a complex character. Some would describe him as serious, other efficient, but the most common one of all was perhaps frightening.
If Wriothesley had to choose one word which would best describe, he say… indifferent. He did his job, sure, whether that be filling out boring paperwork or teaching a lesson to some criminal who thought it would be funny to disrupt the carefully maintained order around the Fortress, doing no more and no less. His heart had long since frozen over, a result of past experiences, but he put in no effort to change his current lifestyle. He was content at his current place in life.
But that was until the newest recruit, a small, melusine-like nurse came bustling into his office, practically beaming with how eager she was to introduce herself. He thought nothing of it at first, just guessing about how long it would take for her hopes and dreams to be shattered when faced with the reality of the underwater prison.
But, oh, how wrong he was. In all his life, Wriothesley would have never had expected to be able to grow so fond of and attracted to one person… And with fondness came emotions, ones that he had long forgotten the feeling of…
