“Did you… plan this? Even before I told you about…? Had you already planned to ask me to stay, and to… cook for me?”
Ilya freezes, looking caught, before he says unconvincingly, “No?” and turns back to the fridge, leaving Shane staring at the side of his face.
“Rozanov.”
He winces. “Maybe? I was thinking about it. I was worried you would say no.”
“Why would I say no?”
“You almost did say no,” Ilya reminds him, giving up and turning to face him again. “You tell me.”
Oh. Shane had almost said no, because… this isn’t what they do. They fuck, sometimes cuddle for a bit, and leave. And maybe if this were last season, and if Shane hadn’t been working all summer on getting more comfortable with deviating from his years-old routines, he’d be a lot less cool about all this.
But Shane’s been getting better at figuring out what he wants and not just what he’s supposed to want, and at letting himself have the things he wants, and, well, he wants this. He wants Ilya.In the summer of 2016, Shane starts to heal his relationships with himself, his body, and his desires. That October, Ilya gets to be grateful for the results, in more ways than one.
