They tried to convince themselves that they were simply doing what needed to be done. What was necessary.
Just another hurdle in the endless obstacle course that was their battle against the students of Stonewall Prep.
A necessity. A challenge. A test.
But if this was a test, they were both sure to pass with flying colours. Because she was fluent in Archie Andrews. And Betty Cooper was the only subject he had ever truly paid care and attention to studying and perfecting.
So, when the day came for the task to be performed, they weren’t exactly sure when it was that they had crossed the line between friends and lovers. In fact, they weren’t even sure if they had crossed that line at all, merely blurred it.
They were balancing on the fraying, fragile tightrope that was their relationship, above the pool of sharks that was everything they had once known. They were teetering on the cliff’s edge, about to fall into the abyss.
Walking along their very own blurred lines.
