Phil loves fire. There’s something about the way the smell of smoke clings to clothes, hair, and basically anything it touches that reminds him of Dan. Most people find the smell too much, too close, and too overpowering. But not Phil. Phil thinks the smell is wonderful, the way it overcomes everything in his life, the comfort and the feeling of foreverness it brings with it.
He wouldn’t mind if the smell of smoke stuck around for the rest of his life, actually, if he’s honest. He’s staring at the fire, unblinking.
