Summary
Six months after the games, having lost touch with everyone except Gi-hun when the vote went their way, Jung-bae's got a lot on his mind. How he's lonely. How he doesn't want to get back with his ex-wife. How he can't stop thinking about Dae-ho.
A chance encounter in an alleyway might just change everything.

Awareness that Dae-ho is, in theory, attractive, is swept out of his mind. Attraction to Dae-ho replaces it, and Jung-bae is powerless to resist.
-
Or: Jung-bae's obsessed with Dae-ho's tummy. He's a real one for that.

Summary
Dae-ho takes a deep breath as he looks the other man in the eye.
“I’ve thought about it a lot today. And I’ve decided that I would like to do an Atonement.”
He can see the surprise on Jung-bae’s features as soon as he says the word. There’s a pause as Jung-bae scans Dae-ho’s face, as if he thinks this is some kind of joke, and the silence hangs heavy in the air between them. The alpha’s scent sours a little.
“An Atonement?” Jung-bae blinks. “Why would you want to do that?”
“To show my remorse,” Dae-ho says firmly. “And to show that I’m committed to this pack.”
“That’s not what Atonements are for, Dae-ho. That’s only what omegas are told they’re for. Atonements are for alphas to humiliate and control omegas. We don’t do Atonements in this pack. In-ho would never expect that of you.”
OR
Haunted by his failure to retrieve the magazines from the dormitory during the rebellion, Dae-ho is desperate to regain the trust and respect of the rest of his pack.

Summary
When Dae-ho starts unrolling his yoga mat in the middle of the living room, Jung-bae knows he’s in trouble.
He’s actually in the middle of doing something important - his tax return, of all things - and he could really do without any distractions.
But there’s Dae-ho, wearing the tiniest tightest pair of spandex shorts that a person could possibly wear, and one of Jung-bae’s t-shirts, bending over as he unrolls his mat right in Jung-bae’s direct eyeline.
OR
Dae-ho is just a little distracting, and Jung-bae decides to provide a distraction of his own.

Summary
“And how are you feeling about tomorrow?”
Gi-hun shrugs. “I’ve done it before.”
There’s a hardness in his eyes, as if he’s trying to remain as emotionally removed as possible from all this so that he can shield everybody else. It’s the same look he had when he returned to the games, and it saddens In-ho to see that familiar transformation from someone so hopeful and optimistic to a traumatised survivor, prepared to go through it all again for the greater good.
“Even if you’ve done it before, you can still feel nervous or scared,” In-ho points out gently.
“I’m not scared,” Gi-hun insists, but his eyes are far away. “But I suppose I have been thinking about what Gyeong-seok said the other day. I’ve only had one baby, and that was nearly seventeen years ago. What if they think I haven’t been trying hard enough? Because I haven’t, you know. I’ve never tried to get pregnant again.”
OR
In a country with a declining population, the government mandates fertility examinations for omegas every five years. This presents In-ho with his first real challenge as Pack Alpha as he tries to protect the omegas of the newly formed Hwang Pack.

Summary
“You’ve got to be kidding? You trust us, huh? Well we don’t trust you. What would make you think that we’d agree to this? I don’t care that you betrayed your bosses to help us. I don’t care that somehow you convinced my best friend to mate with you. You lied to us. You manipulated us. You held a gun to my head. I watched you choke an innocent man to death during Mingle. Do I need to go on?”
In-ho maintains a neutral expression, but he feels the shame burn through him with every word.
“He’s changed,” Gi-hun insists. “He risked his life to save us. He helped destroy the games. He’s been a brilliant alpha to me and a loving father to Jun-hee -“
“Jun-hee,” Jung-bae laughs bitterly. “He’s not Jun-hee’s father. Every time you say her name do you not think of her namesake? Her mother. Her real mother. Remember her? She helped us win the six-legged pentathlon. And she didn’t leave that island with us. She’s dead because of him.”
OR
Convinced that the people who control the games are seeking revenge against him and everyone else who escaped from the island, In-ho agrees to Gi-hun’s suggestion of expanding their pack. To give them security, protection, and maybe something else.
