Ray swallowed and stepped inside. It smelled musty and wet, and when the door closed behind him it became unbearably silent and velvety black. But he was past the point of caring. He was hurting all over, he was hungry and exhausted and he just wanted to have a little rest. Just a tiny bit.
He shuffled over to the bed and dropped his bag without a second thought, taking solace in the sound of it hitting the floor with a loud clatter as he sank onto the stiff mattress. He would just close his eyes for a second.
