Summary
There are things he wants to hold onto forever. Chuuya's smile, his laugh, the way he stretches in the morning when he wakes up on Ranpo's couch. The curve of Chuuya's shoulders. His toothbrush against the bathroom sink.
Of course, there is too much of life to condense the idea of him and Chuuya into all the background details. He tries anyway. Sometimes he dreams of Yokohama lights reflected in the water of the port.
Ranpo is made whole by old dreams and old regrets. Through all the years there is Chuuya, moonlight, and everything he doesn't want to leave behind. Across different times and different lives, they complete each other, again.

"What?" He asks, "Where'd it all go? Why's it gone?"
The boy with the god inside of him shakes his head. "It's not gone. It's all still here. It's just changed, that's all."
"Yeah?" he says. "I don't even recognize it anymore. I feel like I'm looking for things that aren't there."
The boy shrugs. "It probably won't get put back together the same way. But we're still here, aren't we?"
Ranpo dreams of a boy with fire-red hair and a god under his skin. There are things he doesn't think he will ever understand. After the end of everything, they find each other, somehow.

Summary
Fourteen is too young to be alone in Yokohama. The doctor, with his grey-smoke eyes and greasy hair, is not a good person. He doesn't have to be a genius to know that.
Fourteen is too young to not have parents anymore; there one day and gone the next. Yokohama is not a good place for an orphan.
Ranpo is found by the wrong person. The Port Mafia is not the right place for an orphan. In the mafia, at least, there is Nakahara Chuuya, and a chance to put his life back the right way again. Forgetting is not as easy as it seems.

Summary
"You make me feel so human," Chuuya breathes, quiet enough that even Edogawa can barely hear. "I don't get it. Talking to you makes me forget everything."
The detective stiffens, looks at Chuuya like he's something new to him. He blinks once, twice, and then he smiles.
"Like your head is being filled with something when you look at me?" Edogawa asks, his voice shaky and something close to hopeful, "Yeah, I know the feeling."
Chuuya thinks about other lives a lot. If there is another world out there, where he isn't a mafia executive, where he doesn't have a kill count in the hundreds, he'll never find it. In this life, though, there is Edogawa Ranpo, sunsets, and an understanding he's been looking for since he woke up with a god inside his head.

"I don't think you understand me at all. I think you're scared of me," Ranpo says, hoping Chuuya will stop staring at him with his sky-blue eyes. Chuuya laughs.
"Listen, I've met enough super-genius freaks to last a lifetime. The only one scared of you here is you."
Ranpo Edogawa is many things, most of them facets of himself he wishes didn't exist. What he is not, however, is someone who takes risks, someone who leaves thing to chance. He doesn't lose control of himself; he doesn't rely on strangers to help him feel better, and he doesn't make conversation with mafiosos infinitely stronger than he is. Until, before he realizes it, he does.
Chuuya, Ranpo, Yokohama lights, and something like understanding.

Summary
With the prosecution of the Agency, Junichirou Tanizaki has had his entire life turned on it's head. Left with nothing but the hope that somehow everything will turn out all right, he flees the mafia safe house only to be met with Tachihara Michizou, division commander of the Black Lizards, and sworn enemy of the Detective Agency. Dragged into a chaotic storm of secrets, lies, and fear before he can even react, all he can do is try to survive.
