Summary
It is 1932. Castiel, the adopted son, serves as the Sant’Angelo crime family’s hitman, a ruthless soldier who kills indiscriminately without questions. It is only when Castiel is contracted to kill Dean Winchester, his childhood obsession, that his world is torn asunder. Suddenly, in the face of the man he once loved, Castiel begins to doubt himself and nothing can prepare him for how quickly everything seems to fall apart.

A bullet to the chest would have had the same effect. Castiel felt a sudden burst of adrenaline pump into his system, leaving his head light with… far too many emotions to sort through. Castiel was not prepared for the tidal wave that the name brought. A name he had tried so hard to forget ever existed. It fell so loosely and carelessly from his brother’s mouth, as if meant nothing. Yet for Castiel, the name carried such a weight, so barbed and multi-faceted with a myriad of thoughts and regrets.
